Building walls, windows and doors
Walls are placed as separate parts, so door and window openings come from building around them. Players find this the fiddliest part.
Short answer
Walls in Frutiger Home go up as separate parts, so a door or window opening is something you build around rather than cut into a finished wall. That is the single most repeated complaint from the demo period: a player on 7 August 2026 said they liked the game but "one part I struggled with was adding windows and doors... looks like right now you have to build separate wall parts".

What the demo threads actually say
| Date | Report | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 7 Aug 2026 | Windows and doors are the frustrating part; walls have to be built as separate parts | Player report, not contradicted by any official note |
| 27 Jun 2026 | Repeated requests for window customisation (shape/size variety) | Requested; not confirmed as a launch feature |
| 18 Sep 2026 | Suggestion for day/night and weather toggles in house configuration | Requested; not confirmed |
| 6 Sep 2026 | Crash reported while building a house | Player report; see Fatal Error & crashes |
No developer post during the demo period described a wall-editing tool, a door-cutting tool or a change to how openings work. So plan for the version the players describe until a patch note says otherwise.
How to approach it
This is the order that follows from the reported behaviour — plan openings first, then fill:
- Decide where the door goes before you start the wall run. Because parts are discrete, an opening is the gap you leave rather than something you cut afterwards.
- Build the wall run as segments either side of the opening, rather than one long wall and a hole.
- Place the window or door part into the gap and check it from outside as well as inside — the official screenshots show openings read very differently from the exterior, where glass and frames dominate the facade.
- Do the openings on the ground floor before you decorate. Restyling happens per item through the Edit Style window, so moving a wall after a room is furnished means redoing the styling on whatever the wall carried.
- Save yourself the rebuild: keep the exterior simple and put the detail inside. Every official screenshot sells the interior — glass walls, aquariums, plants — not complex exterior brickwork.
Known gaps
- No official building tutorial is published. Neither the store page nor the Steam announcements explain wall placement.
- Whether window customisation made launch is unconfirmed. The request is loud in the forums; no developer reply appeared before launch.
- No player-made wall guide exists yet. The demo community wrote suggestions, not tutorials. If you build one, the contact page is open to corrections here.
